Navigate to Net-Zero

Join us in taking positive #ACTION

Meet us at Nor-Shipping 2022, 4-7th of April in Lillestrøm!  Hall C, stand C04-14.

This year`s theme at NorShipping is #ACTION, focusing on showcasing who is doing what and how to ensure more sustainable ocean business.

Peter H KahrsAs a technology leader we work together with our customers for a net-zero emissions operation of vessels. Nor-Shipping is the perfect arena to showcase how we are taking action to unlock real value for our customers  for a sustainable change in climate challenges.

Peter H. Kahrs, Director Sales at BOS Power

Navigate to Net Zero.

Electric propulsion combined with battery systems is one important technology step for decarbonization of the maritime industry. Using green electric power from renewable sources for propulsion, in combination with effective onboard power and energy management systems, enables the maritime industry to reduce the harmful emissions from the operation of the vessels.

Power-to-X are one of the key levers on the road to climate neutrality. Using E-fuels such as e-methanol produced from renewable energy sources and converted into propulsion power you have a climate-neutral energy transformation. The benefit of methanol is its high energy density compared to other sustainable fuels, and its liquid state which means it's easy to store and refuel at ambient temperatures – indeed existing infrastructure can continue to be used in many cases.

In the future, fuel cells can be used to power vessels. Using hydrogen and oxygen the fuel cell produces electricity to power electric motors, making propulsion CO2-free. Fuel cells that do so using green hydrogen are not only entirely carbon-free but highly flexible too. That is owing to another huge advantage of the fuel cell system: its scalability. On a ship, the amount of power being generated can be adapted to its power requirement at any one time, thereby saving fuel.
